Blue Ridge Parkway

Drive the Mitchell County section of the Blue Ridge Parkway & walk some of its trails:
  • Crabtree Falls Trail at Milepost 339.5 is a two-mile hike featuring views of a 60-foot waterfall and also offers picnic and camping opportunities. 
  • Chestoa View Trail at Milepost 320.8 offers an easy .63 mile loop hike to a majestic view
Other destinations on & off the Parkway that are easy excursions from Bakersville are Mt Mitchell State Park (Milepost 349.9), the Linville Falls & Gorge (Milepost 316), and Grandfather Mountain (Milepost 305), which is also home to the Highland Games during the month of July.
