Chiropractic services provided by Philip Cope, D.C., focuses on muscle and joint health. Pain and lack of mobility are the usual cause for consultation with Dr. Cope. These problems may occur in muscles and joints of any area of the body, head to toe.
Dr. Cope's treatments usually take thirty minutes of hands-on-therapy. The extended treatment time enables him to use procedures that loosen the muscles allowing the adjustments to be given more gently. As a result, there thends to be fewer sessions needed to correct the muscle and joint imbalances and/or malpositions.
He may give suggestions for modifications of sitting, sleeping or working positions if they are significant in the cause of pain. Frequently, Dr. Cope recommends 5-10 minutes per day of individually prescribed therapeutic movements for limbering and strengthening. At times referral to or consultation with other physicians are necessary to facilitate optimum health.

Acpuncture is one aspect of Chinese Medicine, and what we know as acupuncture,
the Chinese call Jin-Jui. This translates as "needle-burn," which refers
to two of the forms of Chinese Medicine. Chinese Medicine in its entirity
encompasses acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal and dietary therapies, Tui-Na
(a form of soft tissue and joint manipulation or massage) and the Chinese
exercise arts Tai Ji Quan (T'ai Chi), Qi Gung (Chi Kung), and Wu Shu (Martial
Arts...sometimes called Kung Fu). Acupuncture, or the needle aspect, refers
to the use of extremely fine wire needles to access the body's senergetic
circulatory system. Acupuncture stimulates the body's intrinsic healing
ability by activating points on the energetic channels along the pathway
of its circulation. Each point is a tunnel, or access root, to the deeper
circulatory channels within--it is a point on the body where that energy
surfaces, so that we are aable to influence those energetics back towards
health. The "burn aspect" refers to moxibustion, which is the burning of
an herb, maxa, also know as Artmmisia Vulgaris. It is commonly formed into
sticks or cones for therapeutic use. When burned and held 1 to 2 inches
from the skin, it gently warms the energetic points, stimulating and strengthening
them. The burning maxa does not touch or burn the skin. While acupuncture
works with an energy that is already there and acts to redirect the body
toward health, maxabustion actually increases ints energetic strength.
Maxa builds, acupuncture directs and balances.
